The rumours about Q
I knew this is coming when I decided to move out of my office in Sam Leong Road about two weeks ago. Just yesterday I heard from some models asking me if Q has closed and no longer in business. Well, I thank you for your concerns and to those jealous individuals out there, I know you all are waiting for my business to close so that there is one competitor less. But I am so sorry to disappoint you because as far as I still have the passion to run this business, Q will NEVER bow down to such pressure. It will still be in operation because I have other better plans and I'll let you competitors go and fight amongst yourselves. Kill each other for all I care. You know what, I am so tired of playing this game here that's why I have decided to change my strategy. The modelling industry in Singapore is getting from bad to worst. Rates are not going to get any better and overheads are soaring when business are so dead slow. Those who said they will never bring their rates down eventually did because if they don't, they'll not survive long. And those who said they are doing very well are lying through their nose. And there are also certain people who want to monopolize the industry thinking that they own the industry. Well all I can say is good luck and let's see how long they can last. This is the start of my blog entries based on my personal views about the damn industry. I have been in this business long enough to know what's happening. I don't make these comments based on overnight judgement. Something has to be done if Singapore wants to stay ahead of the competition where modelling business is concerned. With the rate it is going now I don't think Singapore can make its mark as a fashion hub. Just look at the pathetic rates clients are giving the models. Something is very wrong somewhere and I know what's happening. Clients should start booking models directly from modelling agencies instead of letting the advertising agencies, production houses or even photographers put together a so-called "special package" that includes the models' fees. I know to clients it may seem like a convenient thing to do but in actual fact when models are not paid well, standard and quality will drop. No wonder our print ads and TV commercials here are churning out as if it were hamburgers and there is no quality. I even came across shoots done in a hastily manner many times before and were out in a mere two days but they lacked that standard and quality. Then the clients pushed the blame to the models or agencies for giving them inexperience models when they got feedback that the ads were bad. But come on you guys rushed through the productions and it's not our fault. Sorry. More comments will be published soon.
