Thailand's political arena is simply too much

What is becoming of Thailand's political arena? The situations are escalating from bad to worst. It will never get better. I foresee a violent clash soon amongst the pro- and anti-government groups.

In my opinion, Thailand is fast becoming a lawless country. This is a country where people can just storm into government properties without any fear, people who took laws into their own hands, people who defied court orders and what next? What makes PAD so sure that when they took over the government things will get any better? What makes PAD so sure that they won't share the same fate at PPP? Don't forget, supporters for PPP are so huge as compared to PAD's. PPP's supporters could easily topple PAD should they seize power. I don't quite trust the army chief because I suspected a military coup is underway. He is only playing down things. That's what Thailand's government officials are good for, never meant what they said and what they said are simply childish. The boastful attitude of the former minister (forgot his name and his article has disappeared from Nation's website) is appalling. He thought he is a powerful person who can incite violence just because he had done it before. His life may be at stack this time round I guess if he really executes his plan.

It is good to know that the university students are against the government and PAD. These are the people that both the government and PAD should be wary of. But my question is, if the students want the present government to step down and asked PAD to quit its protests, what next? Who do they want to run the country?

Being a frequent traveller to Bangkok and someone who used to be very keen to start a business there is now giving the country a miss. So are my businessman friends. Thailand is no longer a place to be. If going backwards is what the Thais want, so be it. It is sad that a country who is on the road to recovery, post-Thaksin era, is now sliding back to square one. Like the saying, if things get better don't spoil it because it is hard to get it back. Being a foreigner, I share the anguish and frustrations of the many Thais who want to see the country go back on track and prosper. My Thai friends are on the verged of giving up hopes that the country will ever be peaceful again. Even if PAD is going to seize power, things will never be the same again. Within a month, history will repeat itself for sure. That's Thailand for us!

Last but not least, if I am a Thai I don't think I want the PAD to lead the country because I wouldn't want a leader who leads by bad examples. Just look at the attitude of Chamlong. Abhasit is a better option to lead the country in the worst case scenario. He didn't hold protests like how PAD did. Smart people will take the mediation route. Only stupid people will create chaos and disturb the peace of the beautiful country. On the other hand, they are also showing disrespect to the monarchy because they are protesting against someone who has a high respect for the king.

Contributor's Note

Thailand is no longer a good place for businessmen and tourists alike. People should start giving it a miss. There are other better countries to shop and do business. I recommend China.
